The famous group of Italian madrigals debuting at the 7th Misteria Paschalia Festival – La Venexiana – presented in Krakow one of the most beautiful passion masterpieces – Membra Jesu nostri, a cycle of Dietrich Buxtehud’s seven cantatas, the master from Lubeck, virtuoso of the organs and teacher of Jan Sebastian Bach. The focused and raw music, meditating the suffering of Christ moved the audience into the time of the Easter Triduum.
This will be an extraordinary event. Two great artists: Philippe Jaroussky and Fabio Biondi, after the concerts (Jaroussky on Saturday at the Salt Mine in Wieliczka, and Biondi on Monday at the Philharmonic) will meet with the audience and shall be signing albums and programme booklets. Join us!
This will be a great musical trip through time and space. The Catalonian discoverer of unknown musical lands – Jordi Savall – took the festival audience, which filled St. Catherine’s Church to the brims. Together with him, as well as Japanese and Hindu instrumentalists, we followed the footsteps of XVII-century Portuguese missionaries on an expedition to the Far East, right to Japan. Unforgettable impressions!
